Of course we would like to keep this program open to customers who are interested in purchasing a new Orbea bicycle from us here at Colonel's. This is an opportunity for you to try out a great carbon bicycle in real world conditions. The blue bike is a 54cm with Sram Force components and the big red one is a 57cm with Campagnolo Centaur. The third bike is a 51cm red Opal with Campagnolo Veloce parts. All we require is a credit card deposit which we refund when the bike is returned in the same condition it left in. Please come by or call (817) 924-1333 if interested.

Cold Weather Riding Apparel In Stock

Looks like we are in the middle of a north Texas cold snap. That basically means that it's cold enough to keep you off the bike unless you have the correct riding apparel. We just happen to have what you need here at Colonel's. Come by and take a look at our Craft and Garneau cold weather stuff. We have base layer, gloves, hats, arm warmers, leg warmers and jerseys in stock.

The Great Southwest Bike Swap

The Lone Star Racing Club and The Colonel’s Army are co-promoting The Inaugural The Great Southwest Bike Swap Sunday, January 27, 2008.

This event could become a draw that would get enthusiasts from all over Texas and the Southwest. With support of the Fort Worth cycling community, we could have our own version of Veloswap every year. See pictures from Colonel's adventures there last year here.

HERE ARE THE DETAILS:

Admission to the public is free.

When: Sunday, January 27th
9:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. Fort Worth, Texas

Tarrant County Resource Connection
Building 2300

What: The Lone Star Racing Club and the Colonel’s Army are co-promoting a bike swap meet. Booth space is limited, but both bike shops and individuals can secure a booth to ply their trade. Booth rental includes (1) table and (3) chairs.

There are 4 booth sizes:
10 x 10 for $20 25 of these are available
10 x 20 for $35 4 of these are available
20 x 20 for $50 6 of these are available
20 x 40 for $100 2 of these are available

Where: The Tarrant County Resource Connection is on the south side of Fort Worth on Campus Dr., one exit east of the I-20/I-35w interchange. Click on this handy Google map for detailed directions.

The Resource Connection is generously allowing our two clubs to hold the swap meet in the gymnasium. So, no matter how ugly the weather, we will be dry and comfy.

12:00 Movie Showing: A Sunday in Hell, the 1976 Paris Roubaix classic documentary by Jorgen Leth. Leth utilized 20 cameras to capture the action. Although it’s a dated ‘70’s film, it’s timeless! We have a side meeting room reserved and can seat 30 people on a first come, first served basis.

2:00 Movie Showing: Klunkerz, a 2006 MTB documentary by William Savage. Klunkerz chronicles the dawn of the mountain bike era and includes interviews with several of the Northern California pioneers of the off-road sport, including Ritchey, Fisher, Breeze, Kelly, etc.

Raffle Prizes: Admission to the public is free. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Hourly drawings will be held to award raffle prizes to those present, with a grand prize set of Mavic wheels to be drawn at the close of the show. The grand prize winner does not have to be present to win.

How: Set-up can be on event day, or the night before from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 24-hour security provided. On event day, booth holders can arrive at 8:30 a.m., 30 minutes before the 9:00 a.m. opening to the public.

Daddy's Unit 2-9

Thanks to Steve Ullrich and his daughter Lauren for their patience. We finally completed their Kona Unit 2-9 custom bike build. This bike started out as a rigid single speed 29 inch mountain bike and ended up as a touring, shopping, rough road, trail, do it all machine. We added Ultegra 10 speed shifters to a Ritchey bio max drop handlebar and a double crankset with Shimano XT rear derailleur on an 11/34 IRD 10 speed cassette. Say that 10 times fast! The package was rounded out with Old Man Mountain racks, Planet Bike Cascadia fenders and Vittoria tires. Thanks to mechanic Tim Gray for his custom rack brace fabrication. Did I mention the Avid disc brakes for superior stopping power when the bike is loaded down? This was a fun project and came out looking great. Check it out.
