Sidewalk Surfing
I stepped out for a few minutes to pick up an order at the Arundel warehouse and came back to find the mechanics doing a little sidewalk surfing on a customers Surly Big Dummy that was in for some service. The weather was so nice after the long cold spell that I can't blame them. This bike is equipped with a Rohloff hub and Busch and Muller generator light systems. Great bike for errand running and sunny Thursday afternoon bike surfing.

2010 Starts with pain!
The "Excruciation Exam" was for many of us one of the toughest races in the state of Texas. The race was January 2nd at Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda. It started at 7:30 AM and had 150 racers ready to go with a le mans start (30 degrees with ice on the ground). I was the first one on a bike after the run, but I knew that I needed to race with a few guys that had some experience with this event. Wink, Scott Henry, Tristen and I headed into the woods for a hot lap, then we hit the road for the real grind.
Basically the race is one lap a Warda, about 30 miles to Rocky Hill, a 21 mile off road lap, ride back to Warda and do a 4 mile lap. About 85 miles(I did hear a few reports of 87 miles) of hard hitting mountain bike racing. 5th place was ok for my first time, but I'll be ready for a "w" next year!
Oh yeah, big props to my buddy Wayo for the support and for volunteering to help other racers.
