Salty Dog

Word to the wise. Change your handlebar tape and clean your bars before it gets to this point. I was changing the bar tape on a customers bike (who shall remain nameless) and discovered this glowing mass of sodium. Out came the rubber gloves for the rest of the job. I think Sully used some of it to season his low sodium soup. After some antibacterial soap and some elbow grease with a scotch brite pad I could see the Aluminum. The real point is that sodium can react with the Aluminum and corrode and fatigue the handlebar. Be safe, change your tape regularly.

Fishy Bunch

Ran across Steve McReynolds and this fishy bunch while out on a Sunday morning leisure ride with the ol lady. They were nice enough to stop and pose in front of this fish mural under the University Dr. bridge. Looked like they had they were having a great time cruising the Trinity Trail. Sizing is a little tricky, it helps to reference the Salsa geometry chart and know your preferred horizontal top tube length. The bike is actually available in single speed form or geared with a triple crankset. Purchasing a frameset and adding your components is also an option. Salsa Selma Single Speed

We now have the Salsa Selma single speed 29er frame in stock. This particular one is an 18 inch. This is the single speed version of their geared 29er known as the Mamasita. A fine blend of Scandium main triangle and carbon stays. Note the flat carbon stays for better vertical compliance and a killer ride! Great paint and graphics. Check the chili pepper head badge. Built with a Bushnell eccentric bottom bracket the makes chain tensioning a breeze. There is even a derailleur hanger option if you would like to run gears at a latter date.
